Hovering

Songs of Remembrance
for alto, soprano and 2 percussionists
(text 2)
**
Numbing memories
frozen in ice
like old ghosts
revisiting
from times past
unable
or so it seems
to toss the iron mask
bare my soul
have naked eyes.
**
Have I become
afraid
to live
for fear of
drowning
in my own
darkest waters?
**
Nailed without failing
by indelible imprints
my eyes
reach
up and high
a distant eagle’s rise.
**
Here I am
hovering
above this
river divide
between
the living
and the dead.
